| This session is an introduction to virtual worlds. The presentation will define virtual worlds and discuss why you need to know anything about them. Other topics include how you can explore them for yourself and what the future may hold for these dynamic environments. |

| How faculty can use virtual worlds |
| How do you teach in a virtual world? What are other schools doing? What do virtual worlds offer that cannot be done in traditional classrooms or online instruction? This presentation will address these questions and discuss education in a virtual world. |

by becoming an online student yourself |
| A checklist of some things you can look for as an online student to use and apply in your future online teaching. Start-up activities, initial sense of community as well as learning activities. As you observe the content of students’ posts, what is your impression and how to respond. |

| Building students’ resiliency in online courses |
| It seems like an indispensable life skill, particularly in this day and age. Yet at the same time, our students may be inclined to give up in frustration in the face of pressures from our “microwave society.” What we can do as online instructors to build our students’ resiliency. |
